Ford to Develop a Cheap EV with a One-Piece Chassis

🟢Ford has been facing difficulties in competing with Chinese manufacturers and Tesla in recent years. The company has announced that it has been developing a new platform for two years and will produce affordable compact electric cars on this platform.

🔋The American automotive giant brought together the industry’s leading engineers in a fully independent R&D team for this project. It was giving signals of transition to chassis-integrated battery and single-piece chassis design.

🚙 By producing hundreds of chassis parts as a single piece at a time, Ford will reduce not only the part R&D/production/logistics cost but also the production time, thus, it will be able to reduce the prices at which it can compete with the Chinese manufacturers.

💰The Italian iDRA produces the giant aluminum casting machines used by Tesla in the production of one-piece chassis. The company has been working closely with Ford for a while to bring this platform to mass production. Recently, it was shared that an American manufacturer placed an order worth hundreds of millions of dollars for six giant casting machines, and it was claimed that the buyer could be Tesla or Ford.
