Volkswagen Stops Electric Vehicle Production At Two Factories

⚡Volkswagen announced that it has stopped electric vehicle production in two factories!

🛑 Two Volkswagen factories in Germany have halted production due to a shortage of electric motor supply. Production of the ID.4, ID.5, electric sedan ID.7 and Audi Q4 e-tron models will be severely affected.

The first decision to stop production due to the supply of the electric motor codenamed 🔋APP550 came from the Zwickau plant. After the plant, which will remain closed for three weeks, it has now been announced that the Emden plant will stop production for at least five days.

📊With new electric vehicle orders falling by 50% year-on-year to 150 thousand in the third quarter of 2023, Volkswagen may have taken into account the current order load while deciding to stop production at the factories.

💰The German giant, which managed to increase its sales figures, albeit modestly, after big discounts in China, is experiencing a serious demand problem in Europe, its largest market in electric vehicle sales with 61%.

While strong competitors such as Renault and Stellantis are preparing to launch electric vehicles in the 25 thousand euro price range, it should not be surprising that Volkswagen cannot attract enough customers with the ID.7 priced at 55 thousand euros.
