When Tesla first announced back in 2019 that they would produce an all-electric pickup truck starting from $39,900, people rushed to the automaker’s website and put their names on the waiting list. But at the end of 2021, Tesla removed any info regarding Cybertruck’s price and specifications from the pre-order page. All 1.7 million Cybertruck reservation holders wonder: will Tesla honor its original Cybertruck price list?
After almost three and a half years, Tesla’s original price list for Cybertruck is not relevant today, because of inflation, material prices, chip shortage, etc. There’s a high chance that Tesla will not honor the Cybertruck prices. But this special all-electric pickup truck is designed in a way that it won’t be needing any paint or expensive aluminum parts. Instead, Tesla will use a paintless stainless steel exoskeleton body to reduce manufacturing costs. Lithium-ion batteries are also a lot cheaper than what they would cost in 2019. So, it’s definitely possible for Tesla to produce and sell Cybertrucks at the original price points.
Cheaper FSD for Cybertruck Reservation Holders!
Truth be told, Tesla is not obligated to honor the Cybertruck price list that was announced at the unveiling event and put online for two years. It’s, however, officially confirmed that FSD pricing is fixed for the Cybertruck reservation holders, which is half of what the FSD package costs today ($15,000). Even if Cybertruck gets a price bump, there’s a $7,500 cost advantage for the customers who chose FSD while ordering their pickup truck.
There were no option to include FSD when ordering the truck.
