New methods continue to be developed for electric vehicle charging stations.
EVgo will opt for a scalable design for fast charging points. The company officials state that the time can be halved and the cost can be reduced by up to 15% for suitable areas with the method called “prefabrication approach” in the new electric vehicle charger installations. The officials decided to start this decision with the installation of six fast chargers.
The new prefabricated structures to be installed will provide wifi, lighting, security cameras, etc. while also providing drivers with protection from adverse weather conditions.
EVgo stated in a press release that the company will begin the project in Texas later this month, where all charging equipment – including distributors, power cabinets, and other necessary equipment – is prefabricated and assembled in a single frame base before being shipped to the fast charging point.
Regarding the development, Dennis Kish, COO of EVgo, said, “Innovations such as the prefabrication method are critical for EVgo to scale its charging network and build the necessary infrastructure to meet the public’s need for charging.” “Prefabricated stations not only save time and cost but can also enhance the customer experience by offering popular features that drivers want,” Kish said, revealing the company’s approach to the issue.
