A couple of months ago, Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla will open its enourmous charging network to other EV brands in the future. Today is the day. First Tesla Superchargers are now open to non-Tesla electric vehicles, only limited to select number of chargers in Netherlands, though. American EV maker launched a pilot program for drivers who own other brand’s electric vehicles to access Supercharger network at following 10 stations:
- Sassenheim
- Apeldoorn Oost
- Meerkerk
- Hengelo
- Tilburg
- Duiven
- Breukelen
- Naarden
- Eemnes
- Zwolle
Dutch EV owners can download Tesla app to their phones and start using Tesla‘s fast-charging network right away. In order to avoid overloading the charge network’s capacity, Tesla will apply higher prices for non-Tesla vehicles when a station is too crowded. More stations will be opened in the future, according to a certain country or region’s Supercharger infrastructure met the capacity requirements.
More than 27,000 Superchargers Available
As of November 1st, 2021, Tesla has more than 27,000 Supercharger stalls in 3,085 different locations, according to Supercharge.info. Out of three thousand locations only 10 are available to all EV owners. This will change in the near future, as Tesla will launch more sites and make available a CCS-to-Tesla adapter for other EV owners in the US.
