BMW ended gasoline/diesel engine production in Germany!
The German automotive giant stopped the last internal combustion engine production lines in its country. The Munich factory has been producing engines for 60 years. It will now only assemble automobiles.
A budget of 400 million euros has been allocated for the transformation of the factory that will produce electric vehicles developed by BMW on the ‘Neue Klasse‘ platform. Approximately 1,200 workers working in the engine department of the factory will be trained and employed on vehicle assembly lines.
The Munich facility currently produces the BMW i4 model. Starting from 2026, the new generation of electric BMWs will leave this facility.
Internal combustion engine production, which ended in Germany, will continue at BMW’s facilities in Steyr, Austria, and England.
