Xpeng G9 – 480 kW
Xpeng G9 is a large-size electric SUV that just launched in China. And yet it has become the fastest charging electric SUV in the world. According to the Chinese automaker’s live demonstration, G9 can be charged at a 480 kW peak rate. That is way faster than any vehicle out there.
G9 comes with a 98-kWh battery pack. Thanks to its rapid-charging capability, it can gain up to 200 kilometers of range with a 5-minute charge. The only problem is to find a charger with enough juice to feed this beast. On that matter, Xpeng announced that they would install 480 kW DC chargers in 50 different locations next year. The number of rapid chargers for the new Xpeng G9 will increase to 500 by 2025.
GMC Hummer EV SUV – 300 kW
GMC’s electric pickup Hummer EV (350 kW) is one of the fastest-charging vehicles right now. The SUV version of this popular Hummer is no exception. Even though its deliveries hasn’t started yet, GMC Hummer EV SUV made into our list as the second best.
Hummer EV SUV can charge its huge 200-kWh battery at a peak rate of 300 kW, when the conditions are optimal. Hummer’s first electric SUV has three motors, but the rest of its features has yet to be confirmed.
Tesla Model X – 250 kW
Tesla cars are usually charge really fast at their dedicated Supercharger locations. Model X supports up to 250 kW DC charging. 250 kW CCS charging in other locations is also now possible, thanks to a newly-launched adaptor.
Tesla will probably increase its top charging rate in the near future with the latest Supercharger V4 units. Model X and Model S Plaid are the first vehicles to support higher rates. Model X might allow its driver to enjoy faster charging speeds later this year.
Tesla Model Y – 250 kW
Tesla Model Y is also capable of charging at the highest possible rate of 250 kW when plugged in a Supercharger, or other ultra-fast DC chargers. Although Model Y has a relatively small battery pack, it still performs really good at 200+ kW charging rates.
Vinfast VF 9 – 250 kW
Vietnamese EV maker Vinfast recently delivered first VF 9 vehicles to customers. This full-size SUV is not only good for big families, it is also really fast at the charging pole. VF 9 supports up to 250 kW DC charging, according to the manufacturer’s statement. VF 9’s US deliveries are due this year.
Avatr 11 – 240 kW
Avatr 11 is the result of a joint effort put together by three prominent Chinese companies; the world’s largest battery maker CATL, Huawei, and Changan Auto. This beautifully designed electric SUV supports 240 kW DC charging and it is keeping that promise with an exceptional performance. The thing is, Avatr 11 is only available in China. But newly-established joint-venture’s plan is to expand to both European and american markets in 2023.
It has an impressive 116.79-kWh battery and a 578 HP dual-motor powertrain. It is fast on road as well. Avatr 11 can go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds. A smaller battey option is also available for around $49,000.
